OMGWTFBBQ?!! Is Sassafrass making a blog post? YES, yes I am. Anyone who was watching me script Nuclear Warfare on my livestream the previous night would know I was having difficulties getting the missile turrets’ attack-preview-circle not to draw when overlapping another circle. Well, I just now made it work! Exciting? Yes! Finished? Not quite. But it is a start. Tomorrow I will make it actually work in the game instead of in this test script I threw together.
Check out this awesome overlapping circle outline-age.
Ignore the white circles, those just show where the circles are situated. The important thing to notice is the red circle and how it does not go inside the white circle. Amazing, is it not?
Update:
Just implemented it for Nuclear Warfare. Here’s a screen shot of what I was trying to accomplish.

The long awaited results to the mapping competition are here! But first, I just want to thank all the mappers who contributed maps, they were all really great and we had a lot of fun playing and rating them. I should mention that even if your map didn’t place amoung the top three we will be adding any number of the maps we found were good enough for our server. Without further adieu, I give you, the results…
First Place – deathrun_ale-tech by BlackOps Second Place – deathrun_carbonic by Hoppins and Snoipa Third Place – dr_industrialist by BMCha
Runner Up – deathrun_snoweydeath by Dexter
I will be contacting the winners shortly to award them their prize, as well as arrange putting their map on the server. Thank you for the great maps!
After speaking with all the mappers who entered a map into the contest we have a final schedule for when all the maps will be play tested on the public Deathrun server. The times are already all saved as events on the Sassilization Group but in case you aren’t a member, here they are…
Yesterday all of the admins got together and play tested all of the submitted maps. The maps that were submitted looked great and we had a lot of fun playing and judging them. We decided that the maps all should get play tested on the public server. The public play test will be the last chance for any of the admins to change their scores. In addition any issues which were mentioned in my posts on each submission should be fixed in order to give the best chance for scores to go up. I will be contacting each map maker to arrange a time to play test on the server, provided any major issues I mentioned in their submission gets fixed.
All in all, the submissions were very nice and the results should be interesting and exciting for everyone. I look forward to trying the maps on the server with everyone, should be fun! I will probably make another blog post when the schedule for trying the maps has been created. I expect the first play test to be early next week.
As you may have heard, over the past month, we have been running a mapping contest for Deathrun. That mapping contest will be coming to a close in just 2 days (Nov. 1 at 12:00 AM) and the judging will begin. The submissions we have so far are looking great and I hope to see a few more before the contest closes. As mentioned, the prizes that we decided on are as follows:
First Place: A Steam game with a value of $50 or less
Third Place: Free VIP, or equiv. in dough if you already have vip, worth $15
I have received a few questions about how we will handle all the maps that are submitted. Basically, the top 3 maps will be awarded prizes and any map we deem worthy will be added to the server. For all the information on the current contest please see the official forum post.
In other news, I have recently been developing a bot, cleverly named SassBot, which uses Steam as its medium. Currently SassBot’s only major feature to regular players is that he allows you to talk on web chat without having to use the site. If you’re interested in using Sassbot simply add him and when he accepts (automatic) he will introduce himself and get you started.
Finally, Halloween is upon us and to get into the spirit the site and Lobby have been spruced up with the always appropriate pumpkin. In addition, the Lobby has received spooky and fun Halloween music.
To celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving in Canada we will be having a VIP sale which starts today and ends on Tuesday (October 10). VIP will only require a donation of $7.50 (50% off). If you were waiting to get your VIP now’s your chance!
Enjoy!
Update
The sale has now ended! Hopefully everyone who wanted to get VIP has gotten it!
I am very pleased to announce the official start of our very first mapping contest. Contestants will be making maps for our Deathrun server and we decided against having a set theme for maps. Contestants will have one month to create their map and submit it by October 31. We are offering great prizes to the maps we deem the winners.
